Kyu Nagayamatei is the former residence of one of the most important pioneers in the settlement of Hokkaido. When it was built in 1887, the residence was one of a few rare examples of Western-style wooden bungalows in Japan at the time. "Kyu Nagayamatei" is now designated as a cultural property.
